FriendFeed was shut down on April 9, 2015. We maintained the service since we joined Facebook in 2009, but the number of people using FriendFeed had been steadily declining and in the end, the community was just a fraction of what it once was. Given this, we decided that it was time to start winding things down.

We want to thank you all for being such a terrific and enthusiastic community. We're proud of what we built so many years ago, and we recognize that it would have never been possible without your support.

Dear FriendFeed community,

We wanted to let you know that FriendFeed will be shutting down soon. We've been maintaining the service since we joined Facebook five years ago, but the number of people using FriendFeed has been steadily declining and the community is now just a fraction of what it once was. Given this, we've decided that it's time to start winding things down.

Beginning today, we will no longer accept new signups. You will be able to view your posts, messages, and photos until April 9th. On April 9th, we'll be shutting down FriendFeed and it will no longer be available.

We want to thank you all for being such a terrific and enthusiastic community. We're proud of what we built so many years ago, and we recognize that it would have never been possible without your support.

Forcing Your Way in

I was looking at the life of a good friend of mine, who also happens to be a classmate in college and I just can stop appreciating how lucky I am to be the person I am at this moment. He is one of those people who never give in, an epitome of real hope and persistence. If there was a way that we could swap bodies and lives, I am not sure I would last a month in this world. We are very good friends and we talk a lot. He talks about things; some of which I only are jaw dropping, but when you look at how easy and strong he looks while narrating them to you, you just can’t stop admiring the great amount of hope he has in his life.
He talks about his family. His father is a drunkard; his mother is a kindergarten teacher. Family feuds are an everyday showdown. He tells me his father is a wife batterer and he has been like that from the faint memories he has from his childhood. He told me of the terrifying nights he would spend crying when he heard the cry for help from his mum late in the night and how their neighbors would flock around their house just to watch from a distance. This really affected him psychologically; he told me he feels like a loner as a result of these experiences. Now that he has grownup, he tries to fight back, not physically but by doing his best to earn a degree and honor his mum with a good peaceful life away from the misery she has had to go through just to see her son live a near-good life.
Due to these oppressions, he has been in and out of school ranging from a number of awkward reasons. His father once had him drop out of school with the view that it was a waste of money and time and instead wanted him to start doing small scale retail business around their town with the promise that he would add on to the money his mum were to pay for his school fees to serve as capital. It turned out that he just wanted to swindle them and drunk from all that money the mum was to use for school fees. The result was a one semester delay for there was no fees and a couple of exam retakes, and he is still going strong!

Building a study network for greater resources

A college or university is the highest level of studies where one is bound to graduate to a well paying career or still come to a point of disappointment if proper planning and efforts are not observed. Every student joining these exceptional learning institutes should aim for the best and highest achievement in order to be well informed as well as to get a marketable job in the current competitive labor market. There are numerous things which can proof to be helpful such as preparing study skills, staying focused and also building a study network. Although many of the things that the student should do focuses more on themselves, study network involves other students with whom you are pursuing the same course together with.

These is very important for the performance of every student since no one can be able to stand alone and make it over the ladder of academic success. It is good to make new friends in this new environment as this will help in the enhancement of your well being as well as helping you to become a better and successful student. It will be highly advisable that the student makes sure that he or she does not live in isolation but connect with others in addition to taking part in both informal and formal group studies.

It will be good for the student to cultivate a network of friends with who they can not only socialize but also work together in

  • Discuss the conceptions and thoughts that concerns your course,
  • Go over the past lectures, practical and tutorials,
  • Share advice and solve problems together,
  • Pool resources on study tasks
  • Share points of reference and research
  • Share lecture notes especially if any of you misses a class

This network can prove to be a very resourceful group when it comes to supporting each other in solving some of the toughest course problems. The group also becomes a pool of shared resources which are necessary for a successful college life. Many people also find the college to be a perfect place for making reasonable friendships which are bound to last for a very long time if not forever. This can prove to be a difficult task in the beginning but once you are into it you will find it enjoyable. There are many rewards associated with the study networks and therefore you must not ignore them. seek to bring in your strength and weakness so that you can share with others their portion too.

Building workable study skills

For everything to succeed there is a need for a proper plan which will act as a roadmap for the student. This roadmap is known as study skills which are more than just mere understanding what is at hand. One must be willing to follow the study skills so as to be able to improve. It is good to remember that one cannot just seat around and plan on how they are going to study but they must carry out the plan in order for them to succeed. The real success does not come to those who plan, but to those who implement the plans that they make.

The importance of a plan

Many people would want to start doing something even without a proper plan for it. It is however important for every university or college student to understand that even before they embark on studying, a plan is absolutely important. The plan is useful for helping the student to understand the time they have at their disposal and also how they should assign this time into what they must do. Different students have different needs and having a plan that best suits your needs will be a very important thing to do. Make sure that you have a plan and that you keep to it as much as possible.

The second truth that concerns a plan is that it will help in saving time. Although a plan is important, it is good to know that it can be revised. The plan works as signposts which will be helpful in keeping you focused without drifting off course. Many students who fail in their college or university studies do so simply because they think they have a lot of time which they fail to manage well. Make sure that you allocate your time where it is needed most.

Although the college may have a timetable, students come to realize that they have many hours which are not officially allocated to lectures. This becomes a very big trap for the students who fail to remember that they are supposed to be their own masters in a way. Remember you are no longer in the kindergarten or high school where students must be guided and monitored. In fact one of the requirements in many offices is for someone who is self driven and does not require to be supervised to do their work. Develop this early in your college life. You should know when you are supposed to study, revise, socialize and sleep.

How to Write an Effective Term Paper?

Termpapersandessays's blog

Term paper writing is a crucial task. Many students end up writing a poorly structured, languid and dingy term paper just because of the fact they do not know how to organize their ideas and arrange their thoughts.
